KATHMANDU, Nov 8: The number of aftershocks of last Friday night’s 6.4 magnitude earthquake with its epicenter in Ramidanda in Jajarkot has reached 466.
Usually after any big or small earthquake, quakes that occur regularly around the epicenter are called aftershocks. According to the National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Center, 466 such aftershocks were recorded as of 10:30 AM on Wednesday.
Jajarkot experiences 444 aftershocks till 11:30 AM
Just last Monday, there were big aftershocks of magnitude 5.8 and 4.5 around Ramidanda. These aftershocks destroyed the cracked houses in the area and 25 people were injured. The largest aftershock of 5.8 magnitude occurred at 4:31 PM on Monday afternoon at Ramidanda in Jajarkot. Immediately after that, another aftershock of magnitude 4.5 occurred at 4:41 PM.
On Friday night at 11:47, 12:08, 12:29, 12:35, there were 4 earthquakes of 6.4, 4.5, 4.2, 4.3 magnitudes respectively. Likewise, 101 people died in Jajarkot and 52 in Rukum West due to the earthquake. Similarly, 131 people were injured in Jajarkot and 189 people were injured in Rukum West.
