JAJARKOT, Jan 4: A feasibility study for a tunnel linking Jajarkot and Jumla is set to begin soon. The tunnel route will connect Kushe Rural Municipality-8 Sangta of Jajarkot and Tatopani Rural Municipality-8 Imilchaghari of Jumla.
The Quality, Research and Development Center of the Department of Roads has issued a notice for the feasibility study in this regard. It has already called a tender for the feasibility study of the tunnel route and the construction of the route will be started after the completion of the feasibility study, said former minister Shakti Bahadur Basnet.
Basnet shared, "A Feasibility study is going to be carried out to construct the tunnel way and to open a track of the new road."

He further said that construction activities would be carried out soon after the feasibility study as the tunnel would be the shortest route to link Jajarkot and Jumla. The distance from Sangta of Jajarkot to Imilchaghari of Jumla is around 10 kilometers.
Similarly, CPN (Maoist Centre) leader and Province Assembly member Ganesh Prasad Singh said that they had been demanding that the government carry out a feasibility study of the tunnel route, and the Department of Roads has already issued notice for the same now.
One has to walk around 10 hours uphill to reach Jumla from Jajarkot. The tunnel will reduce the journey to a mere 30 mins once the tunnel construction is completed, he added.
