KATHMANDU, Feb 3: The Shree Sahid Jagat Prakash Jung Shah Sanskrit Secondary School in Bidur Municipality, Nuwakot District, which was damaged in the 2015 Gorkha earthquake, has undergone reconstruction and was officially handed over on Thursday. The project was part of the "Emergency School Reconstruction Project" funded by Japan to rebuild several schools affected by the earthquake.

Kikuta Yutaka, the Ambassador of Japan to Nepal, sent a video message congratulating the individuals and groups involved in the Emergency School Reconstruction Project (ESRP), specifically mentioning the team at the Shree Sahid Jagat Prakash Jung Shah Sanskrit Secondary School. In the message, the Ambassador explained that Japan initiated the ESRP with the goal of reconstructing 274 schools in six severely impacted districts and that as of now; all 273 schools have been completed. The Ambassador emphasized that the ESRP was implemented with the idea of "Build Back Better" to make the schools stronger and more resistant to earthquakes.
Ambassador Kikuta expressed his delight in the growing number of students attending the reconstructed school, which now attracts students from all over Nepal. He mentioned that 2022 marked the 120th anniversary of the dispatch of the first eight Nepali students to Japan for study and expressed his hope that students from the school will play a significant role in strengthening the relationship and friendship between the two countries. The Embassy of Japan in Nepal wishes that the ESRP schools will help foster a strong bond between Japan and Nepal for future generations.
