Jhapa XI fetes captain Prabesh Katwal

JHAPA, March 14: The main organizing committee of 2nd Rumpum Jhapa Gold Cup football tournament has felicitated Jhapa XI captain Prabesh Katwal with lifetime achievement award on Tuesday.

JHAPA, March 14: The main organizing committee of 2nd Rumpum Jhapa Gold Cup football tournament has felicitated Jhapa XI captain Prabesh Katwal with lifetime achievement award on Tuesday.



Prabesh was rewarded with motorcycle in amid a program organized to unveil the income and expense of the second edition of the Jhapa Gold Cup held from January 28 to February 6 at Domalal Stadium, Birtamode. 



The 37-year-old midfielder has played for various A-Division clubs including Ranipokhari Corner Team (RCT).   



Meanwhile, the main organizing committee of Second Jhapa Gold Cup also unveiled the details of the income and expenses of the tournament. Disclosing the income and expenses report, the organizing committee's treasurer Kedar Giri informed that the tournament made a profit of Rs 5.62 million and assured to use the amount for Jhapa XI. He also informed that Rs 14.49 million was collected for the tournament and Rs 8.87 million was spent to run the event.  



A-Division giant Manang Marsyangdi Club was crowned the champion of the Second Jhapa Gold Cup after it defeated host team Jhapa XI 1-0 in the summit clash at Domalal Stadium, Birtamode and bagged first prize of Rs 700,000. Runner-up Jhapa XI was rewarded with Rs 350,000.  



Jhapa XI players given bonus

During the same occasion, members of the runner-up team Jhapa XI were handed a bonus of Rs 25000 each. The main organizing committee of the tournament had announced reward of Rs 50,000 if it wins the tournament and Rs 25,000 for second-place finish.



In the meantime, tournament organizer Jhapa XI's President Jal Kumar Gurung said that the club is gaining popularity throughout the nation. He also said that Jhapa XI was planning to play with foreign clubs in the future.
