The book is the result of Karki’s reporting experience from various labour destination countries in the Persian Gulf, according to a press statement released by Karki. Karki has been reporting on the multidimensional aspects of foreign employment for the past one decade.

This book is based on his interviews with 540 Nepali workers working in the Gulf region. “The day when I returned after visiting the distressed workers, I couldn't sleep. Their faces flickered around whenever I closed my eyes. I could only sleep after writing it down on my laptop. And the book is the outcome,” the press statement quoted Karki as saying.

It added the book 'Sanaiya' is the story of a worker who went abroad to build a country. Sanaiya is also the story of those who have built a new Nepal in the crossroads of Arabia; their broken dreams and lost lives.

The book is published by Kitab Publishers Pvt Ltd.
