Journalists, Province Assembly Member test positive for COVID-19 in Jhapa

JHAPA, April 29: Three journalists and one Province Assembly Member from Jhapa have tested positive for coronavirus.


Chairman of Federation of Nepali Journalists Jhapa Yekraj Giri confirmed that journalists Pushpa Baral, Narendra Dhakal and Bir Bahadur Darnal are infected with the virus.


Likewise, Province Assembly Member Gopal Chandra Budhathoki also tested positive for the virus.

All four are in home isolation with the consultation of the doctors. 


Likewise, some corona patients are being shifted to Jhapa from Kathmandu. Nar Prasad Upreti, who was infected in Kathmandu, was brought to Birtamod's B and C Hospital via helicopter. 


Hospital’s Public Relations Officer Pramish Giri said that the decision on the patient's bed shift was taken after the increased number of patients in Kathmandu.   


Giri said that Upreti is receiving treatment at ICU now.  


B and C Hospital has run a 25-bed separate isolation ward for treatment of COVID-19 patients.
