KATHMANDU, March 13: In an attempt to forge consensus on building a coalition for a new government, the Nepal Communist Party (Maoist Center) and Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) held a meeting on Saturday afternoon.
The leaders of the two parties met at NCP (MC)’s head office in Paris Danda and discussed the new government formation, according to Narayan Kaji Shrestha, a Maoist leader. He also shared that the meeting, however, did not reach any conclusion regarding the coalition formation.

“The two parties will hold more talks to forge consensus,” Shrestha said, adding that a dialogue will also be held among the Maoist, JSP and Nepali Congress (NC).
Mahantha Thakur, the Chairman of JSP, said that no party is ready to address their demands though they have been holding a series of talks with the major political parties including the ruling Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist Leninist), NC and CPN (MC).
JSP, which has a total of 34 seats in the lower house of parliament, is seen firm on its decision to join the government only after its key demands are met. One of the key demands of JSP includes release of lawmaker Resham Chaudhary, who is currently in jail over the killing of police personnel in Kailali district.
The JSP leaders have expedited their meetings with the leaders of major political parites. They met CPN (UML) Chairman and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Thursday evening and leaders of NC on Friday afternoon.
