JANAKPURDHAM, July 12: The controversy in the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP), which was saved due to the reshuffle of ministers when a split looked imminent, has reached its climax instead of subsiding. Upendra Yadav's faction of the party is holding an extended meeting of the Central Committee in Birgunj while Baburam Bhattarai's faction has conveyed the message that the dispute within the party has reached its climax in Kathmandu.

Upendra Yadav's faction has convened a meeting of the Central Executive Committee at Pujan Hotel in Birgunj, Parsa from today. An extended meeting of the central committee will be held at the town hall from tomorrow, said Prakash Adhikari, chief of the central office of the party. According to the official, some anarchists with non-political character have been spreading misleading propaganda regarding the meeting of the Central Committee of the JSP.

Adhikari, who is also a member of the Central Executive Committee, said that the meeting of the Central Committee to be held in Birgunj will be held in Kathmandu. He said that the extended meeting of the Central Committee scheduled to be held in Kathmandu on July 12 and 13 is not a statutory and official meeting but ‘a conspiracy’. The meeting of the party's statutory and official central committee is being held in Birgunj on July 13 and 14, he said.

The Bhattarai faction has started an extended meeting of the Central Committee at a banquet at Jadibuti in Kathmandu from Tuesday. The meeting will last for two days.

Mahindra Raya Yadav, leader of the JSP, Bhattarai faction, said, "The leadership isolated them while trying to restore internal democracy within the JSP." He said that it was inappropriate to convene a meeting in Birgunj without informing them.
