SURKHET, July 20: Minister for Water Resources and Energy Development of Karnali Province, Dinbandhu Shrestha has given instructions to connect Jumla to the national transmission line. During a discussion with Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) officials, Minister Shrestha stated that the ministry was ready to provide necessary assistance and facilitation to connect Jumla to the national transmission line.
“I have instructed the NEA to connect the transmission line to Jumla immediately,” Minister Shrestha said. “I expect Jumla to be connected to the national transmission line within 10 days,” he added. Shrestha also pledged the ministry’s support for the purchase of electrical equipment required for connecting Jumla to the national transmission line. “The provincial government will provide the required assistance for the purchase of transformers and electrical equipment,” Shrestha said. “I have asked them to connect Jumla to the national transmission line as soon as possible,” he added.
Jumla connected to national power grid
According to the chief of NEA office of Karnali Province, Surendra Agrahari, the work to connect Jumla to the transmission line is going on in full swing. “We have already extended a 33KV line to Kalikot and the work is making good progress,” he said. “We have aimed to connect Jumla within a week,” he said.
Although the work has already started, incessant rain in the region has created problems. “Continuous rainfall has hampered the progress,” Agrahari said.
According to the NEA, a 33 KV line will be extended upto Kalikot within a week from the Dullu sub-station in Dailekh. The NEA aims to extend the 11KV line from Kalikot to Jumla. The line has already reached 35 kilometers in Jumla from Manma in Kalikot and is expected to finish within a week.
