KATHMANDU, Aug 4: Kamal Bahadur Shah, leader of the Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party in Sudur Paschim Province, has been appointed as the chief minister of the province. The appointment was made by Province Chief Nazir Mia on Sunday.
Shah presented his claim for the chief ministerial position, supported by the UML, before the 5 PM deadline on Sunday in accordance with Article 168 (2) of the Constitution. This marks Shah's second term as chief minister. He first assumed the role on February 10, 2023, but resigned on April 5, 2023, due to political changes.
Sudurpaschim CM Shah to take oath today
Shah is the fifth individual to hold the position of chief minister in Sudurpaschim Province. Trilochan Bhatta of the CPN (Maoist Center) had previously served as the chief minister during the early years of the Provincial Assembly's term.
