Kami Rita equals record of most summits on Everest

KATHMANDU, May 28: Kami Rita Sherpa from Thame village in Solukhumbu has successfully scaled Mount Everest for the 21st time on Saturday.

KATHMANDU, May 28: Kami Rita Sherpa from Thame village in Solukhumbu has successfully scaled Mount Everest for the 21st time on Saturday.


According to Gyanendra Shrestha, an officer at the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, informed that Kami Rita Sherpa reached on the top of the World's highest mountain at 8:15 am on Saturday and equaled the record for the most number of summits on Mount Everest.

Apa Sherpa and Phurba Tashi Sherpa jointly had the record of reaching the summit of Mount Everest more times than any other person.


Kami Rita, 47, equaled the record as he reached on the top with a team under Alpine Ascents Everest Expedition, which was managed by Shangri-La Nepal Trek.


"Kami Rita's success is amazing news not only to Nepali people but to all who are interested in mountaineering and climbing," said Aang Tsering Sherpa, the chairperson of Nepal Mountaineering Association.
