KATHMANDU, April 3: Karnali Province Chief Minister (CM) Raj Kumar Sharma is ready to resign. He is preparing to resign after addressing the meeting of the provincial assembly which will be held shortly.
The chief ministership in Karnali Province was given to UML in the power coalition as per the new political alliance. But Chief Minister Sharma, who is also the leader of the Maoist Center's parliamentary party, was not ready to step down. The stance of the Maoist MPs was to implement the agreement reached at the center only after taking a vote of confidence from the provincial assembly.

But Maoist Center Chairman Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal instructed CM Sharma to hand over the leadership over the phone. After PM Dahal's call, CM Sharma also held a discussion with UML leaders after which he decided to resign. According to Kali Bahadur Malla, Maoist Center in-charge in the Karnali Province, CM Sharma will resign after addressing the province assembly.
