Third Session of Karnali Province prorogued without passing any bill

SURKHET, April 30: The Third Session of the Karnali Province Assembly has been prorogued after convening 11 meetings and without passing any bill.


Although it was said that the Third Session that started on March 13, 2024 will get business and endorse various bills, it was prorogued effective from 12 midnight of April 29 without passing any bill due to the change of government.

Chief Minister Yam Lal Kandel took a vote of confidence from the Assembly during the Third Session. The Bill Designed to Amend the Province Sports Development Act 2076, the Bill Designed to Make Provision Related to the Karnali Province Police Service and the Bill Designed to Make Provision for Electricity in Karnali Province, 2080 are under consideration in the thematic committees of the Assembly. These bills could not be tabled in the provincial legislature.


Province Chief Tilak Pariyar had sent a letter to the Province Assembly Secretariat, informing of the prorogation of the Third Session of the second term of the Province Assembly.


Speaker Nanda Gurung read out the letter and informed the Parliament that the session was closed according to Article 183 of the Constitution. The meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Monday decided to end the session.
