Karnali’s budget for next FY is Rs 36.54 billion; investment summit, expansion of irrigation among focused programs

KATHMANDU, June 15: Karnali Province has announced a budget of Rs 36.54 billion for the next fiscal year. Of the amount, Rs 21.65 billion (59 percent) has been allocated for capital expenditure.

KATHMANDU, June 15: Karnali Province has announced a budget of Rs 36.54 billion for the next fiscal year. Of the amount, Rs 21.65 billion (59 percent) has been allocated for capital expenditure.

The province will be receiving grants of Rs 15.54 billion and additional Rs 7.44 billion will be received in revenue-sharing from the central government.


Announcing the budget, Gopal Sharma, Minister for the Economic Affairs and Planning of Karnali Province, said the provincial government has sought to organize an ‘investment summit’ to attract both domestic and foreign investment. ‘Tar Irrigation Project’ aimed at the river-basin areas near the Karnali, Bheri and Sharda rivers is one of the focused programs of Karnali Province next year.
