'Kathmandu Valley needs to adopt green economy'

KATHMANDU, Nov 11: The ruling alliance's candidate for the Member of House of Representatives from constituency no 7 of Kathmandu, Manushi Bhattarai, has said green economy should be adopted in the Kathmandu Valley.

KATHMANDU, Nov 11: The ruling alliance's candidate for the Member of House of Representatives from constituency no 7 of Kathmandu, Manushi Bhattarai, has said green economy should be adopted in the Kathmandu Valley.


At an interaction with media persons here Thursday, Bhattarai said once she was elected the Member of HoR, she would prepare a development plan for the protection of the originality of the Kathmandu Valley. She vowed to revive the traditional water cycling system to address the crisis of drinking water.

She further informed that she would raise a voice in the parliament for the establishment of rights to the indigenous people. The Newar people displaced from their original settlement would be ensured the right to housing.


Similarly, candidate for Provincial Assembly (a) under the constituency no 7, Basant Prasad Manandhar, said that the mother tongue of the indigenous communities would be recognized and institutionalized in the province.


He also said that he had taken initiatives to this regard in the past as well.
