KATHMANDU, Feb 25: Spin duo of leg-spinner Tilak Raj Bhandari and left-arm spinner Surya Tamang shared 14 wickets out of possible 20 to help Kathmandu Cricket Training Center (KCTC) wrap-up a win by an innings and 97 runs against Baluwatar Cricket Club to secure its first win in the ongoing Himalaya Cricket League.
In a two-day match played at Mulpani Cricket Ground,Bhandari scalped a five-wicket-haul in the first innings to help KCTC dismantle Baluwatar Cricket Club for 53 runs on the first day whereas Surya Tamang registered four on the second day complete an emphatic win. Baluwatar was dismissed for 51 runs in the second innings.

Bhandari had added two more wickets in the second innings to put KCTC in a pole position to enforce an early victory. Baluwatar had won the toss and elected to bat first before bundling-out for 53 runs in 24th over of the two-day match. Bhandari dismissed five Baluwatar batsmen aided by left-arm spinner Surya Tamang’s three whereas Suraj Tamang and Subash Khatri chipped in with a wicket each. Number nine Sagar Thapa was top-scorer and the only double-digit run scorer of the first innings with 11 runs. Similarly, in the second innings, Tamang was aided by Suraj Tamang’s three and Bipin Acharya’s wicket.
In reply, KCTC had declared its innings on 201 runs after the loss of ninth wicket. Opening batsman Bipin Acharya led the batting with a 105-ball 72 runs which included eight boundaries. Similarly, captain Sachin Lakhah and Surya Tamang contributed 36 and unbeaten 26 runs respectively. Rajan GC and Dinesh Jung Budhamagar shared three wickets each for Baluwatar.
Great Himalaya Cricket Academy and Nexus Cricket Academy will face each other in a Group B encounter starting on Tuesday.
