KATHMANDU, Dec 19: The 15th edition of KIMFF announced a competition of films made from mobile phone camera on Sunday.


Like previous year, Kalikasthan –based Sarvanaam Theatre is all set to host mobile film competition ‘Drishyamsha’ this year. A panel of judges, including director Nischal Basnet, Abhinash Bikram Shah, Deepak Rauniyar and Sushil Paudel, announced the film competition amid a press conference held in Sarvanaam Theatre on Sunday.


Coordinator of the competition, Sampada Malla, stated the younger generations who are unable to bring various kinds of stories on screen due to technological divide will be benefited by ‘Drishyamsha’.

On the occasion, Nischal shared his experience in lack of platform during his earlier days. “I struggled hard at the initial phase of my career, however, the situation has changed now. I believe such competitions will help many hidden talents to come forth.”

Reflecting the collection of films that they received in the first edition, Abhinash said they expected to receive even better ones in the second edition. Paudel stated that the competition was both an opportunity and a challenge for filmmakers.


Co-organizer of the competition, Sagar Kharel, said such competitions would help in uplifting and promoting Nepali films as well as filmmakers. Director of Sarvanaam, Ashesh Malla, expressed that a varied forms of arts come under a single definition during the competition.


As per the organizing team, interested ones should submit a minimum of three-minute-long film to the organizers for participation.


The best film will be conferred an Andriod tablet worth Rs 75,000, the Drishyamsha Award and three months’ of free play workshop by Sarvanaam.


Similarly, the first runner up will be awarded with Smasung Tab 3 V while the second runner up will receive a tab. Most highly watched film will be awarded the Audience Choice Award and a 9.7 inches iPad. Interested ones can submit their films to the organizers by January 31.
