Following the earlier prohibition on the sale and distribution of plastic garlands during Tihar, KMC has extended the ban to include plastic Christmas trees.

Christmas, celebrated annually on December 25, traditionally involves decorating Christmas trees with twinkling lights. Despite this tradition, the metropolis has requested the public to refrain from buying and selling plastic Christmas trees, plastic flowers, garlands, and other decorative materials.

The strict measures by the metropolis are motivated by concerns that plastic bags and materials do not decompose, leading to environmental pollution.
