KATHMANDU, Sept 6: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has asked 17 entities that include private firms and government bodies to clear their tax liabilities to the metropolis within the next 10 days.
According to officials at the KMC, separate letters were sent to the organizations concerned on Tuesday to clear the tax dues within 10 days. Those asked to clear their tax dues to KMC include Nepal Food Corporation, Rastriya Naach Ghar, Nepal Chamber of Commerce, Employees Provident Fund, Nepal Electricity Authority, National Trading Limited and Agriculture Inputs Company.

Similarly, the KMC issued ultimatum against Whitefield School, Nepali Jame Masjid, Manamohan Memorial Medical College and Teaching Hospital, RB Complex, Kathmandu Plaza, Nepal Share Market, Kathmandu Plaza, Ciwec Hospital and Dental College in Samakhusi to clear their outstanding dues in tax.
Shiva Raj Adhikari, Chief of Revenue Department at the KMC, said these institutions have been refusing to pay their taxes despite repeated notifications sent by the KMC. Earlier this week, the KMC had warned of taking necessary action against Kathmandu Fun Park and seven casinos for defaulting tax amounts.
KMC has warned of taking action against the organizations concerned if they fail to clear outstanding taxes along with the interest and penalty prescribed by the Economic Act of KMC within 10 days.
