Dr. Awadhesh Jha, the head of the agriculture and livestock department at the metropolis, revealed that the store was found selling expired liquor during the inspection. Subsequently, stringent measures were taken by the KMC in accordance with Section 9 of the Market Management and Monitoring Act 2077 after detecting a substantial quantity of expired liquor available for sale.

In an effort to enhance market regulation, the metropolis introduced monitoring criteria in July and has been consistently conducting inspections since August 18. Unlike previous years when market monitoring was primarily carried out during festive seasons, the metropolis has commenced year-round monitoring this year.
