KMC to conduct face-to-face public interaction program every Sunday

KATHMANDU, June 20: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Mayor Balen Shah has announced plans to launch a program entitled ‘Janata Sanga Mayor’ on every Sunday from the beginning of the next fiscal year.

KATHMANDU, June 20: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Mayor Balen Shah has announced plans to launch a program entitled ‘Janata Sanga Mayor’ on every Sunday from the beginning of the next fiscal year.


Presenting Policy and Programs of KMC on Sunday, Mayor Shah said through a face-to-face program, he will talk directly with the general people to take their grievances. In addition, the KMC will also be installing CC cameras in all its related offices to maintain transparency and good governance.

Construction of resting space for public vehicle users at the bus-stops, reinstatement of traditional public stages and a 50 percent subsidy on premium of medical insurance of KMC based tax payers are among the programs announced by Mayor Shah for the next fiscal year. He also talked about regulating the coaching centers and education consultancies that have been operating haphazardly in the capital.


Mayor Shah also announced plans to operate public toilets in a public-private-partnership model. According to him, KMC will be constructing water storage tanks in the open areas of the state-owned land. Reversing boring arrangements at the water extraction plants and reconstruction of traditional spring taps are among the programs forwarded by the KMC Mayor Shah.
