KATHMANDU, May 28: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has prepared to publicize the names of the hospitals where 10 percent of the beds are not reserved for the treatment of the target group.
According to the head of health department of KMC, Ram Prasad Paudel, a letter will be sent to the union and provincial governments to take action against those hospitals if they disobey even when their names are disclosed, and the administration of the health institutions will be closed.

For this, KMC has requested the hospitals concerned to submit the details by publishing a public notice.
Section 11 (4) B-2 of the Local Government Operation Act 2017 (2074 BS) gives the local governments the legal authority to regulate health institutions. In the Health Institution Operation Standard 2077 BS, Chapter 24, Section 70 (d), there is a mandatory provision that 10 percent of the total beds of any hospital should be reserved for free treatment for poor, helpless, and abandoned patients who come to the hospital for treatment.
