BENI (MYAGDI), Aug 23: The Korala, a border point linking Mustang district with northern neighbor China has come into operation recently. The border point re-opened since Saturday on the eve of the biannual trade fair in Tibet for few days.
Chief district officer of Mustang, Ganesh Bahadur Adhikari, shared that the fair is organized twice in a year to promote the local products among the people and traders of upper Mustang and Tibet region.
Nepal-China trade fair kicks off at Korala
Though the concerned authorities from both sides agreed to organize the fair once each in Nepali territory and the Tibet area, the fair this year has been organized twice in Tibet itself.
Lomanthang VDC secretary Ghyurmi Angyal Bista shared that the fair this time is being held in Dhongbasen district of China, some 10 kilometers far from Lomanthnag.
Locals purchase essential goods from the fair and stock them for a year in the region. Bista added that the fair is organized in Mid-June and Mid-August.
The local traders and people purchase daily consumables, food grains, beer, juice, clothes, and construction materials including cement, wood, zinc sheet, solar panel, and electronic items among others in the fair. The fair usually runs for two weeks. RSS
