KATHMANDU, Feb 12: The Korean government has suspended the ongoing process to take Nepali migrant workers from Nepal as well as other other countries as the rate of transmission of the COVID-19 virus began to increase rapidly in South Korea.
Quoting officials at the Ministry of Labor and Employment of South Korea, the Embassy of Nepal in South Korea informed that the process to take workers from Nepal and other countries has been suspended for the time being and the regular flight scheduled for February 14 has been canceled due to the increasing case of coronavirus in the country.

Minister for Labor, Employment and Social Security Krishna Kumar Shrestha said that an initiative is being taken to release the new schedule of the flights of the workers who were scheduled to fly to South Korea on February 14 after passing the Korean language test for employment in Korea.
Minister Shrestha assured that necessary arrangements would be made to send the stranded workers immediately after COVID-19 transmission rate sees a decline in South Korea. With the initiative of the government, there was an agreement to take Nepali workers, who had been waiting for a long time to go to South Korea under the Employment Permit System (EPS).
