Chief Minister Karki’s government has fallen in a minority following the departure of the CPN (Maoist Center) and Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) from the government. Despite being in the minority, he presented the provincial budget on June 15 through an ordinance.

Following the withdrawal of the CPN (Maoist Center) and JSP from the government, the regular budget session was terminated after the presentation of the policies and programs on June 14. The government has called for a special session to take the vote of confidence due to the mandatory requirement of presenting the budget ordinance before the vote of confidence.
