KATHMANDU, Dec 29: Western Region’s Krishna Thapa and Central Region’s Bhawana Sunuwar on Thursday advanced to the women’s singles semifinals of the ongoing 10th National Squash
Tournament under the National Sports Council (NSC) Championship 2017.
Central Region’s Bipana Blon and Swasthani Shrestha also secured their last four places.
Krishna defeated Central’s Sapana Blon 11-4, 11-5,11-0, Bhawana beat Eastern’s Muskan Raut 11-1, 11-2, 11-3, Bipana overcame Central’s Shreemaya Lama 11-3, 11-2,11-7, while Swasthani saw off Central’s Manjila Ale Magar 11-7, 11-8, 11-9 in the quarterfinal matches. Swasthani will now face Krishna, while Bhawana will take on Bipana in the semifinals.

The semifinal berths of the men’s singles have also been completed. Western Region’s Amrit Thapa Magar will play against Central Region’s Rajendra Shakya, while Arhanta Keshar
Simha will vie against Chhiri Lama in the last four matches.
In the quarterfinal matches, Amrit defeated Central’s Umid Shakya 11-3, 11-7, 11-1, Arhanta beat Nepal Police Club (NPC)’s Deepak Thapa 11-5, 11-5, 11-6, while Rajendra overcame Western’s Padam Bahadur Thapa 11-9, 11-8, 13-11. Also, Chhiri paved his way to the semifinals by the walkover rule after Central’s Sudeep Bahadur Singh was injured.
TAC, Eastern into semis Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) and Eastern Region have advanced to the
men’s semifinals of the third National Sepak Takraw Tournament on Thursday. TAC and
Eastern reached the last four as the group winner and the runner-up of Group A. TAC and Eastern both won and lost a game each, but the departmental team emerged as group winner. TAC, who beat Western Region 2-0, lost to Eastern by 2-0, while Western defeated Eastern 2-1.
Likewise, Mid-western and Central also reached the semifinals as group winner and runner-up respectively. Mid-western beat Far-western 2-0, while it saw off Central 2-0.
Similarly, in the women’s category, Central, Western and Far-western secured their semifinal places, while a team is still to be decided.
