KOHALPUR, March 18: The Kushbandhiya community on Friday presented the District Administration Office with a memorandum for support in building settlement under the People Settlement Programme.

At least 44 households of the Kushbandhiya community living in a public land property at Indrapur of Janaki Village Council – 3 submitted a three-point demand to Chief District Officer (CDO) Rabilal Panth.

"We have already presented the application with necessary documents as required under the notice issued for the Janata Settlement Programme of the Nepalgunj Sub Metropolis," said Gobare Kushbandhiya from Indrapur. "If we can have the red ownership document of our unregistered land we can avail of the other facilities provided by the government."

The members of the community – which has remained in the backburner for too long – have demanded secure settlement, land ownership document and environment for alternate profession for those facing employment crisis.

The government is set to build 1024 houses as part of the Janata Settlement Programme in Banke, according to District Coordination Committee. RSS
