KATHMANDU, March 31: Minister for Labor, Employment and Social Security, Krishna Kumar Shrestha has announced plans to make the health institutions that conduct health examinations of workers going for foreign employment transparent and systematic.
Speaking at a program organized by the ministry in Kathmandu with the institutions carrying out health examinations, Minister Shrestha said that the work related to listing, renewal, and monitoring and inspection of health institutions would be made effective, transparent, regular and systematic.

Stating that the government is serious about the health and safety of Nepali workers abroad, Minister Shrestha said that the trend of making fake health reports through health institutions that do not meet the criteria set by the government will be stopped. He said that the ministry was ready for timely adjustment of the price fixed for health examination of workers going for foreign employment.
Similarly, during the program, the representatives of health institutions and other stakeholders who examine the health of the workers going for foreign employment expressed their views on the challenges and solutions in the field. The stakeholders said that the necessary tools and equipment in laboratories, radiology and health examination rooms should be made in accordance with international standards.
The Foreign Employment Act 2007 has made health examinations mandatory for workers going to any country. The ministry has been working on the listing, renewal and monitoring and inspection of health institutions.
