Lalitpur incident: An individual involved has a criminal history

KATHMANDU, March 26: It has been revealed that an individual involved in the twin-murder incident in Lalitpur Metropolitan Municipality-26, Dholahiti, on Sunday evening following Holi celebrations, has a criminal history.


On Sunday night, following Holi celebrations, two individuals were fatally stabbed during a fight at the D Popina canteen in Dholahiti.

The deceased, Rowas Rai and Pujan Rai, were affiliated with different groups. The police have apprehended 18 individuals from the two groups on suspicion of involvement in the homicides. Among those arrested is Bijaya Rai, the owner of a snack shop, who the police allege is the individual responsible for wielding the knife during the fight.


Bijaya Rai, who has been arrested, has a criminal record. Police sources indicate that he was previously convicted in a drug-related case and served a two-year prison sentence.


Thankot police had conducted the investigation and legal proceedings against him in the drug case.


The police are expected to provide further details about the incident during a press conference scheduled for later today.
