BETRAWATI, Nov 6: Confusion surrounds the construction of houses for the 24 earthquake displaced families of Dandagaon, Rasuwa as the land plot purchased for the purpose is to be used for construction of power pylons.

These families were displaced after their houses were damaged or were swept away by dry landslide triggered by an earthquake and the aftershocks that shook the country on April 25, 2015.

Land plots for the construction of houses for the 24 earthquake displaced families had been bought at Manakamana, Kispang rural municipality-5 in Nuwakot. More than 300 such displaced families including the 24 families are currently living in temporary shelters at Khalte Bagar of Rasuwa district.

The land bought for the construction of houses for the 24 displaced families lies right on the path of the 132-KV double circuit transmission line that will transmit power from the Upper Trishuli III-A project to the national grid.

Construction of houses for these families has been uncertain due to this. The National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) had purchased four ropanis 10 ana land at Manakamana from one Maiya Kumari Bhatta on December 13, 2017 for that purpose. It is said the land lies below the transmission line nine metres to the right and left side, making it risky to construct houses.

The hydroelectricity project has directed the earthquake displaced families not to construct houses on the land as it lies on the path of the transmission line. RSS
