KATHMANDU, July 1: Vehicular traffic in the hilly areas of Nawalpur has been disrupted due to landslides. Head of District Traffic Police Office, Nawalpur, Ganesh Paudel said that traffic was blocked due to landslides in Pangre and Pokahri sections of Hupsekot Rural Municipality-5 under Daldale-Kumsot-Pokhari section of the district.
Paudel said that there is a problem in opening the road immediately after removing the landslide in this section due to the continuous rainfall.
Landslide blocks vehicular movement along Siddhartha Highway
Since the main section connecting the hilly areas of Nawalpur was blocked by landslides, vehicles leaving from the marshes to the hilly areas and from the hilly areas to the marshes have not been able to come into operation. Landslides have blocked the road and the main highway has cut off the communication between the hilly area and the headquarters.
Likewise, the Nawalpur section of Kaligandaki Corridor has also been blocked due to landslides. Head Paudel said that due to landslides in Bullingtar 1 and 6 under the Kaligandaki corridor, the corridor was completely closed. He said that there is no problem in the traffic operation on the main highway of Nawalpur district, East-West Highway.
