Landslide causes closure of micro hydro power

BEJHAD, August 7: Landslide buried a canal of electricity powerhouse of Sutikhola micro-hydro power project Tinau resulting in the disruption of power supply. The incessant rain-triggered landslide buried canal in several parts forcing locals to stay in dark for the past one month.

BEJHAD, August 7: Landslide buried a canal of electricity powerhouse of Sutikhola micro-hydro power project Tinau resulting in the disruption of power supply. The incessant rain-triggered landslide buried canal in several parts forcing locals to stay in dark for the past one month.

As many as 245 households of Tinau rural municipality of the district are facing tough time following the shutdown of power supply, shared Ganesh Raskoti, manager of Sutikhola Micro Hydropower Project. "Though the canal was repaired on the mobilization of kind labor of 300 locals, the project operation is yet to be resumed", he said, adding they have also faced trouble in building on the wall along the canal and clearing the decks.


The locals have a plan to complete the canal maintenance and operate the power supply within next week. The micro hydropower project that comes into operation in 2007 has contributed much to light up the entire settlement.
