Large quantity of stray bombs found in East Rukum

KATHMANDU, March 11: A large number of socket bombs are found at Odhar of Burkisalla in Sisne Rural Municipality-2 of East Rukum district.


According to Rukum Police, a large number of bombs were found inside a black drum at the edge of the forest. Rukum Police Chief DSP Ganesh Shrestha said that the bomb was disposed by a team of Nepal Army personnel local Narasimha Unit. “Nepal Army have successfully disposed the bombs that were found in the jungle. There must have been about six to seven bombs.”

He said that the bombs must have been hidden during the Maoist insurgency.  According to Rukum police, the bombs were placed inside a bag in the drum while some bombs were found in a shelter outside. A local, who had gone to graze the cattle in the forest at around 5PM on Thursday, found a bomb hidden in the shelter and informed Ward Chairman of Ward No. 2 Jeevan KC.


Police then rushed to the spot immediately and reported this to the local army unit for disposal.
