KATHMANDU, Oct 26: Last rites of senior captain Prakash Kumar Sedhai, who died in the course of treatment following a helicopter crash, were performed at Pashupati Aryaghat on Thursday.
Sedhai, who was seriously injured in the crash, died while undergoing treatment at the National Burns Centre in Mumbai, India on Tuesday. The helicopter belonging to the Manang Air that flew to Lobuche from Lukla airport of Solukhumbu crashed on 14 October 2023 while landing at Lobuche.

Mortal remains of the captain were brought to Kathmandu on Thursday itself, said the deceased’s maternal uncle Thakur Prasad Sharma, also former minister of state. Sedhain was referred to India for further treatment. Sedhai’s son Sauhardra lit the funeral pyre.
Present on the funeral rites were Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa and leader Arjun Narsingh KC, Vice Chairperson of the CPN (Unified Socialist) Rajendra Prasad Pandey, Vice Chairperson of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party and former minister Buddhi Man Tamang, former minister Shankar Koirala, residents of Dhading district and prominent people from the aviation sector.
Having served various airlines companies for around 25 years, Sedhain worked for Manang Air for a long time as a senior captain. Late Sedhain had an incomparable contributions in rescuing tourists, pilgrims and sick people from hilly and mountainous areas in particular through helicopter, said the Manang Air sources,.
Sedhai is survived by a wife, a son and a daughter.
