KATHMANDU, March 12: Parliamentarians on Thursday urged the government to take stringent action against those involved in black marketing.
Speaking at the zero hour of the House of Representatives today, the lawmakers drew the government's attention on shortage of goods in the domestic market amid possible spread of coronavirus.
Nepal Communist Party lawmaker Khagaraj Adhikari and Nepali Congress lawmaker Pushpa Bhusal asked the government to take stringent action against those black marketers who are creating artificial shortage of daily essentials including cooking gas.

The MPs remarks come at a time when the people are facing artificial shortage of goods and face masks in the domestic market.
Likewise, people are mainly complaining of shortage of cooking gas and daily commodities. The black marketers are taking the advantage of acute shortage of cooking gas and daily commodities.
The MPs also viewed that food stuffs and medicines should be made easily accessible to the people at this hour of psychological trauma owing to the COVID-19 fears. On the occasion, Rastriya Janata Party lawmaker Mahendra Raya Yadav stressed the need to establish a dedicated official information dissemination system to share essential knowledge about the COVID-19 and its impact. "To dispel the rumors about the novel coronavirus, the government should set up dedicated official information dissemination system," Yadav said.
While airing their views on contemporary matters of public concerns, MPs Prem Suwal, Dr Dila Sangraula and Bidhya Bhattarai urged the government to put in place immediate preventive measures against the coronavirus as Covid-19 has now been declared pandemic by the World Health Organization.
