Lawmakers draw government's attention to contemporary issues

KATHMANDU, April 7: Lawmakers have demanded that the government address several issues including the murder of two children in Rukum East, the government's common minimum programme, the election to the Free Students Union (FSU), and inclusive ideology.

KATHMANDU, April 7: Lawmakers have demanded that the government address several issues including the murder of two children in Rukum East, the government's common minimum programme, the election to the Free Students Union (FSU), and inclusive ideology. 


In today's meeting of the House of Representatives, they also expressed their concerns about the removal of the government's programme for the distribution of the national identity card to all citizens within a year, and the fixation of minimum remuneration of workers.

Kusum Devi Thapa from Nepali Congress demanded investigations into the murder of two children in Rukum East and action against the murderer(s). She stressed the need for launching awareness programmes to reduce maternal mortality rate under the Sustainable Development Goals.


CPN (UML)'s Mahesh Kumar Bartaula accused the government of not following the court's verdict that NSU polls in campuses in the Kathmandu Valley, Patan, Amrit Science Campus, Ratna Rajya Campus and Nepal Commerce Campus should be held again. 


Similarly, Manish Jha from Rastriya Swatantra Party demanded that issues like granting franchise rights to Nepalis residing in foreign countries, the management of a time clock in government offices, and the university umbrella act be included in the government's minimum common programmes.
