Lawmakers draw govt attention on contemporary issues

KATHMANDU, Feb 25: Lawmaker Sher Bahadur Tamanag, taking part in the discussions of House of Representatives (HoR) meeting today, opined for reforming the electoral system adding that the existing system was costly in practice.

KATHMANDU, Feb 25: Lawmaker Sher Bahadur Tamanag, taking part in the discussions of House of Representatives (HoR) meeting today, opined for reforming the electoral system adding that the existing system was costly in practice.


He argued to adopt directly elected Presidential system to minimise corruption and maintain stability in the country. He also expressed to lessen the number of local levels from existing 753 to 350.

Similarly, speaking in the meeting lawmaker Bhim Bahadur Rawal drew the attention of government to resolve the border dispute issues with India in Kalapani, Lipulek and Limpiyadhura areas.


He also advised to set up security posts in the areas to monitor the national border system. Lawmaker Rawal also urged the government to take initiations to return Indian troops from disputed border areas.


He further urged the Prime Minister to brief the Parliament about the progress of Eminent Persons Group (EPG) report.


Likewise, lawmaker Gagan Thapa urged the Prime Minister to respond to queries raised by parliamentarians in the Parliament meeting. He also demanded for Speaker's ruling in this regard.
