Lawmakers of both ruling and opposition parties obstruct National Assembly meeting

KATHMANDU, Aug 11: A strange scenario was seen in the meeting of the National Assembly on Friday. At a time when the main opposition party, the CPN-UML, has been obstructing parliament, the lawmakers of the ruling party also rose from their seats and obstructed the ongoing meeting. They obstructed, stating that the opposition had been obstructing parliament.

KATHMANDU, Aug 11: A strange scenario was seen in the meeting of the National Assembly on Friday. At a time when the main opposition party, the CPN-UML, has been obstructing parliament, the lawmakers of the ruling party also rose from their seats and obstructed the ongoing meeting. They obstructed, stating that the opposition had been obstructing parliament.


The main opposition party CPN-UML continued to disrupt the National Assembly meeting on Friday. At the beginning of the meeting, the Chairman of the National Assembly, Ganesh Prasad Timilsina, allocated time to the lawmakers to speak on current issues. In that process, the lawmakers expressed their opinion. When the chairman Timilsina tried to move forward with the agenda of the meeting after the lawmakers were done speaking, the lawmakers of the main opposition party CPN-UML rose from their seats and obstructed parliament.

After the chairman Timilsina allocated time to UML lawmaker Bhairav Sundar Shrestha to speak about the reasons for obstructing parliament, ruling party lawmakers also stood up and disrupted the meeting. National Assembly Chairman Timilsina informed Republica that the agenda of the meeting could not be continued after the parliamentarians of both parties stood up and obstructed the meeting. The next meeting has been called to be held on August 16 at 1:01 PM.
