Laying optical fiber in national park kicks off

CHITWAN, Dec 23: The laying of optical fiber cable has begun in the Chitwan National Park (CNP) in keeping with the plan to further consolidate the security situation of the park.

CHITWAN, Dec 23: The laying of optical fiber cable has begun in the Chitwan National Park (CNP) in keeping with the plan to further consolidate the security situation of the park. 


Earlier, the CNP had installed CC cameras in different sites through simple cable. Keeping in mind security sensitivity, the park is adopting modern technology and laying 52-km optical fiber cable within its premises accordingly.

CNP Chief Conservation Officer Ramchandra Kandel shared the laying of 20-km optical fiber cable from CNP main office Kasara to Sauraha and 20-km from Kasara-Jhimle-Meghauli has started. Likewise, the cable will be placed in six kilometre from Amaltari of Nawalparasi towards east and six kilometer towards west, Kandel added. 


The CNP had installed 10 CC cameras through simple wire in different sites along the Rapti River to check wildlife poaching. 


Financial and technical assistance for laying optical fiber cable and installing CC camera was provided by World Wildlife Fund (WWF), Kandel informed. 


The task has been put in place to gradually modernize the security system of CNP which of late has witnessed zero poaching for the past 960 days, according to the national park sources. RSS
