KATHMANDU, June 15: CPN-Maoist Centre Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal has urged the women folks to be united for their meaningful participation in the every state organ, including the local units.
Chairperson Dahal said so receiving a memorandum from the Interparty Women Alliance at his personal residence in Lazimpat here on Thursday.
The former Prime Minister said, "We struggled a lot to ensure women's leadership in the state organs. Women have been elected in huge numbers in the last local level election but the process of gender advancement is yet to gain momentum."

Dahal argued that the women elected in the last election and the upcoming one should be given an opportunity to lead and allowed to solely make important decisions and execute them independently.
Stating that the political parties as well as the leaders should take into consideration the advancement of women leadership, he expressed his belief that by doing so, the number and qualities would be enhanced.
Alliance member Yashoda Subedi shared that the memo drew the attention of Dahal for ensuring at least 50 per cent women's candidates for the chief of wards and chief of rural municipality and municipality in the June 28 election. The second phase of local level election is taking place in 41 districts across province no 1, 5, and 7.
She further said that the memo also pressed for fielding non-Dalit women from the areas with no Dalit women in the upcoming election.
The visiting team of the Alliance also urged Dahal for taking initiatives to ensure 33 per cent representation of women in the Council of Ministers as per the essence and spirit of the constitution. RSS
