Leaders at Asia Pacific Summit stress collective efforts for global peace

KATHMANDU, Dec 1: Leaders of different countries have laid emphasis on ending poverty and starvation for global peace. 


Addressing the Asia Pacific Summit-2018 here today, they said people could get freedom from common problems of the world if the countries moved ahead with the common view and programme by adopting people's expectation and changing global context. 



They said that collaboration among the countries was necessary as problems like climate change and terrorism could not be stopped from the sole initiative, saying climate change, terrorism, and human trafficking have become a big problem in recent time. 



On the occasion, Vice-President of Philippines, Maria Leonor Gerona Robredo, said that collective efforts of all were necessary for global peace. 



She said, "Collaboration can be the main agenda of peace and development. We have been stressing on it." 



Stating that poverty, illiteracy, terrorism are the common problems of the world, Vice-President Robredo said trustworthy partnership, co-operation and determination are must cope with these problems. 



Similarly, Head of State of Samoa, Afioga Tuimalealiifano Va'aletoa Sualauvi II, pointed out the need of collective efforts for global peace, urging for carrying out activities keeping humanity, co-existence, and mutual welfare in the center. 



Saying climate change has become a big problem in the recent period, he said that it was necessary to cope against it. 



Likewise, Head of State of Tuvalu, Lakoba Taeia Italeni, said that poverty, hunger, and disease should be alleviated and the matter of security should be kept on top priority, pointing out the need of keeping the resources for present and future generations safe. 



Italeni also said that integrated initiative should be taken to take the youths ahead on a right track through education.
