BHAKTAPUR, Jan 27: Students of Grades V, VI, and VII from Baal Vikash English Secondary School in Bhaktapur are learning Chinese language along with Chinese culture, art, songs, and dance as their regular curriculum.

BHAKTAPUR, Jan 27: Students of Grades V, VI, and VII from Baal Vikash English Secondary School in Bhaktapur are learning Chinese language along with Chinese culture, art, songs, and dance as their regular curriculum.  According to principal of the school Surendra Raj Goshai, every year the students of these three grades are taught Chinese language as a compulsory subject with the permission of the Ministry of Education and Chinese authorities. 


Around 200 students are learning Chinese language at the moment from a Chinese teacher. Goshai said the school provides 60 dollars every month as a pocket money along with accommodation and food to the Chinese teacher.

The aim behind keeping the Chinese language as a course subject is to build a friendly bilateral relationship with the neighboring country, said Goshai. 


Kashmi Goshai, a student of Grade V said, as they teach us Chinese songs, dance, food, and culture I am well aware about Chinese lifestyle. According to the school, Chinese language teacher Mis Le takes five periods in a day. Aayusha Prajapati, alumni student of the school said, it was a new and great experience to learn Chinese language for three years during school days.
