Every year, evergreen actor Karishma Manandhar celebrates Holi, the festival of colors with much fervor where K-town celebrities gather at her home in Godawari. However, last year due to her Secondary Education Examination (SEE), she did not celebrate Holi. And this year too, she has other plans rather than throwing a Holi party.
And here in the conversation with MyCity’s Kiran Lama, Karishma talks about the Holi in detail:
What is the best part of Holi and why are you attached to it?
The best part of Holi is the weather that indicates the arrival of spring. Moreover, since I’m fascinated with colorful things, I love playing with color in Holi.

Do you have any memorable ‘Holi’ moments?
It was Holi and I was in shooting of film ‘Manakama’ with Shiva Shrestha dai at the premises of Tribhuvan University, Kritipur. And there was a funny boy named Dilip Rayamajhi who threw a water balloon on my eye, while I was doing a close shot. Since my eye was swollen; we later caught him and scolded.
But coincidently I shared a screen with Dilip Rayamajhi later in my acting career.
Why are you not celebrating Holi like before, this time?
These days coronavirus is a serious issue. And it (corona) is even a challenging thing for powerful countries too. So, I decided not to celebrate this year because we shouldn’t neglect its consequences.
How did you feel for not celebrating Holi for two consecutive years now?
I will definitely miss the excitement during Holi. Since early morning, I used to be super excited like a child, while celebrating Holi amid friends, family, and members of the film fraternity.
How are you planning to spend this year’s Holi, if not a celebration?
I’m planning to celebrate in a hygienic way. Also, I’m planning to have quality time with my close friends.
Why did you decide to donate the same amount of money that you were going to spend on Holi celebration to late Keshav Bhattarai’s family?
Nepali film fraternity formed a committee for the donation to his family. And I wanted to add some more amounts and giving the money allocated for the celebration will be a good idea. So I have decided to donate the money that was going to be spent on Holi.

Please celebrate Holi in a hygienic way. Be careful especially while cooking food and wash your hands because it’s mainly transmitted through the hand.
