Lightning strike claims 85 sheep and goats

MUGU, July 5: At least 85 goats and sheep have been killed by lightning on Thursday late afternoon in Mugu district.


The lightning that hit Patan Lekh north of Karmarong rural municipality-9 killed at least 85 sheep and goats when they were grazing on the meadow.

According to Akkal Bahadur Budha, a local, those animals killed by lightning strike belong to Krishna Bahadur Budha, Harilal Baduwal, Birkha Bahadur Badhuwal, Kali Bahadur Nepali and other locals.


 The lightning strike has caused a property damage worth of Rs one million, according to local police.


The place where the incident took place can be reached only after walking a long distance for five hours, said Birkha Bahadur Badhuwal, a principal at a local school.


Police have already been deployed in the area to conduct a probe into the incident.
