Loan-shark victims reach agreement with local administration to withdraw their protest

KATHMANDU, Aug 2: Loan shark victims seeking action against those involved in the murder of Bhogendra Thakur of Dhanushadham Municipality 2, Dhanusha have reached an eight-point agreement with the local administration to withdraw their protest.

KATHMANDU, Aug 2: Loan shark victims seeking action against those involved in the murder of Bhogendra Thakur of Dhanushadham Municipality 2, Dhanusha have reached an eight-point agreement with the local administration to withdraw their protest.


The agreement includes arresting the accused, Shivaji Yadav and others and initiating action as per the complaint.

The agreement includes requesting the Ministry of Home Affairs to provide free education to the children of the deceased up to the university level, to declare Thakur as a martyr, hearing the complaint related to loan-shark, to arrange free treatment and employment for Thakur's wife Shyam Kumari, and expenses for the 13 days of last rituals.


Similarly, the District Administration Office, Dhanusha has also assured to arrange security measures for the deceased's family to use land usurped by the money lenders. Manoj Paswan, chairman of the Loan-Shark Victims Struggle Committee,  said that they have decided to postpone the protest program following the agreement with the government authorities.


Thakur was beaten to death on Monday after he failed to return the money of loan sharks.
