MAHOTTARI, May 11: Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Ramesh Rijal, has urged the local governments to attach high priority to skill development and market promotion.
During a meeting with the people's representatives of Bardibas Municipality and leading political cadres in Bardibas today, Minister Rijal mentioned that Nepal’s journey of prosperity could gain momentum only if skills could be enhanced to boost production as per local skills and to increase the market of locally-produced goods.
He opined, "Let's connect people with skill, skill with production and produced goods with the market." The federal government was ready to support if the local governments took leadership for the same, shared Minister Rijal.

He further said the people's representatives should make plans to forward activities as per the concept of an industrial village in every local unit.
Also a central committee member of the Nepali Congress, Minister Rijal opined that there should be a clear roadmap for raising the people's living standard in the regular organizational activities and plans of the parties.
On a different note, he clarified that there would be no intervention by the government in investigation and action on the fake Bhutanese refugee scam.
All of those involved in this scam should face action, said Minister Rijal, adding that all political parties should stand together to stem corruption as it is the main obstacle to a country's prosperity.
