RASUWA, April 27: Naukunda Rural Municipality of Rasuwa has announced to list down mediators who will resolve the issues of the locality in coordination with the judicial committee and Community Reconciliation Centre (CRC) of the rural municipality.

As many as 30 mediators will be chosen for the purpose. Srijana Lama, vice-chairperson as well as coordinator of the judicial committee of the rural municipality informed Republica that these mediators will be provided identity cards on May 4. According to her, the judicial committee won't have to go to villages for solving minor issues and problems after the mediators are appointed. "From now onwards, these mediators will be responsible for solving the conflicts and issues of wards in coordination with the judicial committee and CRC," said Vice-Chairperson Lama.
The cases which the mediators fail to solve will be forwarded to the judicial committee. So far, the judicial committee has resolved a dozen cases and is yet to announce the verdict on 10 more cases.
All five local units of the district have judicial committees. The judicial committees have been playing a pivotal role in reconciling and resolving the local conflicts. Each local unit has resolved about a dozen cases. Before the formation of the committee, the CRC had resolved about 25 disputes, informed program coordinator Sonam Tamang.
Dharma Bahadur Thokra, chief of Naukunda Rural Municipality ward no.6 informed that his ward has sanctioned Rs 50,000 for the management of the reconciliation center. The rural municipality will be setting up CRCs in all six wards. The appointment of mediators has been a great relief for the local representatives as they won't have to go to the villages for solving minor disputes. The victims too are expected to be benefited by this as their issues will be limited to their locality only. They will no longer have an obligation to reach the court or police station to resolve small disputes.
