Lower Tadi Hydro project begins

NUWAKOT, April 19: A dam construction for the lower Tadi Hydro Electricity Project has begun in the Tadi River in the district.


Buddhabhumi Hydropower Company Pvt. has started the construction of the hydropower project with 5-megawatt situated in Balkumari and Thaprek. 


The hydropower company has invested 35 percent while the various banks led by Siddhartha Bank have 65 percent share, said Purna Lal Shrestha, chairman of the company.

The project will be completed within two years. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 980 million.


The project has started generating electricity by laying a 2800-meter-long pipeline and constructing a dam in Simle of Balkumari.


Shrestha said that those affected by the project will be provided 10 percent of the share.
