LAHAN, Aug 20: Madesh affairs experts have condemned the boycott of Prime Minister KP Oli's address to Province-2 Assembly by provincial assembly (PA) members, calling it 'the beginning of anarchist politics' in the province.

Three provincial assembly members from the Rastriya Janta Party Nepal (RJPN) boycotted the Prime Minister's address to the provincial assembly on Saturday. Lawmakers Upendra Mahato, Biki Yadav and Gouri Narayan Shah announced that they would boycott Oli's speech and left the assembly hall. RJPN has been demanding the its suspended House of Representatives member Resham Chaudary, the main suspect in the Tikapur lynchings, be sworn in.

Madhesh affairs expert Rajesh Ahiraj claimed that the boycott of the assembly by the members of a party which is supporting the federal government is a sign of anarchy. He said that such behavior from provincial assembly members is unacceptable. “Even if they had to criticize the PM, they should have at least listened to him,” Ahiraj said, “What if other assembly members start to boycott their address in the future?”

Another Madhesh affairs expert Bijay Prasad Mishra claimed that it was inappropriate of some assembly members to boycott the address while other assembly members from the same political party were welcomed the prime minister. He said, “Either the entire party should have boycotted the address or they should have stayed behind to criticize the prime minister after the address.” He slammed the behavior of the lawmakers for being 'anarchist'.
