‘Mahanagar’ to be world premiered in KIFF

Nepali feature film ‘Mahanagar’ directed by Mohan Rai will be premiered in the 26 th edition of Kolkata International Film Festival. The film festival is going to be held in Kolkata, India from November 5 to 12.

Nepali feature film ‘Mahanagar’directed by Mohan Rai will be premiered in the 26 th edition of Kolkata International Film Festival. The film festival is going to be held in Kolkata, India from November 5 to 12.

According to a press statement released by the production team, the film has been selected under Asian Select (NETPAC Award), one of the three competitive award categories in the festival.


 "I am a great fan of Satyajit Ray. He had directed a film with the same title some 57 years back on a story set in Kolkata. The film to be world premiered in a festival being organized in the same city is a pleasant co-incidence", the statement quoted Director Rai.


‘Mahanagar’ is produced by Middleway Films in association with Mountain River Films. The film’s executive producer is Govinda Parajuli. Nawa Nidi Dahal is the creative producer of the film.


It added that categorized as one of 23 "Competitive Specialized Feature Film Festival" by FIAPF, the International Federation of Film Producers Association,Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) is one of the important film festivals in the world. FIAPF regulates international film festivals, including some of the world's most significant ones, including Cannes, Venice and Berlin.
